Posting from my phone
Just a quick test post from working copy.
Just a quick test post from working copy.
My move to using the same blogging platform as I do my day-to-day work on, hopefully means I will blog more. This little post is about finishing moving all the other things tagged onto this domain.
Before I explain my move, first some thanks. Thank you to Neatnik and omg.lol for hosting my blog for the last 3 years. It was weblog.lol that triggered me to write and share my thoughts again.
I’ll start with the cool computer that could fit in my pocket, and that is my Ubuntu machine for testing.
I think two things happened. I wasn’t busy/dedicated to my work, and I was looking for a new job.
I've had 3 full days working at a new company where I can use my personal Mac to do my day job. I never realised how heavy Windows felt until now.
Well, this is interesting. I've migrated my Weblog to GitHub, added a GitHub automation to submit new posts to my Algolia search index.
The first thing you need to do is to create a JSON file of all your current posts. This JSON will be used to create a search index in Algolia.
I've been adding PDF downloads to my writing samples — using Google Drive. I also have been thinking I'd like to add the micro.blog feature of audio posts. A quick search found Embedding Audio Files from Google Drive into HTML. But this didn't work. I think it's a combination of CORS and other authentication blocking from Google. There is however a fix.
Wow. What a ride. I missed one day due to, er, writing a technical test for a job application. I sincerely hope I get it, as it sounds like a perfect fit.
